At Hue Smile Travel, we want you to explore the ancient streets and scenic countryside of Hue with total confidence. While we maintain our fleet to the highest standards, a flat tire can occasionally happen.
Don’t worry! Most tire issues are easy to fix. Below is our “How to Fix a Flat” guide for travelers. Plus, remember our exclusive policy: If you encounter a problem you can’t solve, Hue Smile Travel offers FREE roadside repair support for all our customers!
1. Prepare Your Toolkit
Every bike from Hue Smile Travel comes equipped with (or offers as an add-on) a compact repair kit. Ensure you have:
Patch Kit (Patches, sandpaper, and glue)
Hand Pump
Tire Levers (Usually 2 pieces)
2. Step-by-Step: How to Fix a Flat
Step 1: Remove the Wheel
Flip the bike upside down. Open the quick-release lever or unscrew the bolts (usually 15mm). If your bike has V-brakes, remember to release the brake cable first.
Step 2: Deflate the Tube
Schrader Valve: Press the small pin inside the valve.
Presta Valve: Unscrew the top nut and press it down to release all air.
Step 3: Remove the Tire from the Rim
Insert a tire lever between the tire and the rim. Hook it onto a spoke. Use the second lever to slide around the rim until one side of the tire pops out completely.
Step 4: Take Out the Inner Tube
Pull the tube out from inside the tire, starting at the valve.
Step 5: Find and Patch the Leak
- Pump a little air into the tube.
- Listen for a hissing sound, or submerge it in water to see if it bubbles.
- Dry the area and rub it gently with sandpaper.
- Apply a thin layer of glue and wait 1–2 minutes for it to become tacky.
- Press the patch on firmly, especially the edges.
Step 6: Reinstall the Tube and Tire
Pump just enough air into the tube to give it a round shape. Insert the valve through the rim hole and tuck the tube inside the tire. Use your palms (not tools) to push the tire back onto the rim to avoid pinching the tube.
Step 7: Final Check and Inflate
Check that the tube isn’t caught between the tire and rim. Pump to the recommended pressure (usually 40-60 PSI for city bikes). Reinstall the wheel and secure the brakes.
